Editorial Policies – Pathophysiology of Cell Injury Journal (PCIJ)
The Pathophysiology of Cell Injury Journal (PCIJ) upholds the highest standards of scientific integrity, editorial independence, and transparency in publishing. All manuscripts undergo rigorous peer review and ethical evaluation to ensure the publication of only original, high-quality research that advances understanding in the field of cellular pathophysiology.
1. Editorial and Peer Review Process
-
Initial Screening: Each submission is first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors for originality, scientific soundness, and alignment with the journal’s aims and scope.
-
Peer Review: Manuscripts passing initial screening undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts. Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise and track record.
-
Decision: Editorial decisions (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject) are based on reviewer feedback, scientific merit, and ethical compliance. Final decisions rest solely with the Editor-in-Chief.
-
Post-Acceptance: Accepted manuscripts are subjected to professional copyediting, layout formatting, and DOI assignment before publication.
2. Authorship and Contributor Responsibilities
PCIJ follows the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) recommendations on authorship.
-
All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.
-
Each author must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
-
Any changes in authorship after submission require written consent from all authors and editorial approval.
3. Ethics and Research Integrity
The journal adheres strictly to the ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Declaration of Helsinki.
-
Research involving humans or animals must include ethical approval from an accredited Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee.
-
Clinical trials should be registered in a recognized public registry.
-
Plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, or duplicate publication are strictly prohibited and will result in rejection or retraction.
4. Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure
Authors must clearly declare any financial, professional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research outcomes.
All sources of financial or material support must be disclosed in the Funding Statement section of the manuscript.
5. Open Access and Copyright Policy
-
PCIJ publishes all content under an open-access model, ensuring immediate and unrestricted access to readers worldwide.
-
Authors retain copyright of their work and grant BM-Publisher the right to publish it under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing distribution and reuse with proper citation.
-
All published articles receive a Crossref DOI for permanent citation and indexing.
6. Data Sharing and Reproducibility
Authors are encouraged to make raw data, protocols, and analysis code publicly available to promote transparency and reproducibility. Datasets should be deposited in recognized repositories where applicable.
7. Appeals and Complaints
Authors who believe their manuscript was unfairly treated may submit a written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief. Complaints regarding ethical or procedural misconduct are handled confidentially according to COPE procedures.
8. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made free from commercial influence or conflict of interest. Advertising and sponsorship do not affect the editorial process or peer review outcomes.
