Aims and Scope

The Pathophysiology of Cell Injury Journal (PCIJ) aims to provide an authoritative international forum for the dissemination of cutting-edge research exploring the mechanisms, outcomes, and therapeutic modulation of cell injury. The journal is dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of how cells respond to stress, adapt, or undergo death — and how these processes translate into human disease and clinical outcomes.

Scope of the Journal

PCIJ welcomes submissions covering the full spectrum of cell injury and repair mechanisms, including but not limited to:

  • Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Injury

    • Oxidative and nitrosative stress

    • Mitochondrial dysfunction and bioenergetic failure

    • Calcium homeostasis and membrane permeability alterations

    • Lipid peroxidation and protein misfolding

  • Cell Death Pathways

    • Apoptosis, necrosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis

    • Autophagy and lysosomal injury

    • DNA damage response and cellular senescence

  • Inflammation and Immune-Mediated Injury

    • Cytokine and chemokine signaling

    • Immunopathology and chronic inflammatory responses

    • Cellular injury in autoimmune and infectious diseases

  • Tissue Regeneration and Repair

    • Stem cell biology and regenerative medicine

    • Cellular reprogramming and tissue engineering

    • Wound healing and fibrosis mechanisms

  • Experimental and Translational Studies

    • Animal models of organ injury (liver, kidney, brain, heart, lung, etc.)

    • Cellular biomarkers of damage and recovery

    • Therapeutic modulation of injury pathways (antioxidants, gene therapy, nanomedicine)

Journal Mission

The mission of PCIJ is to integrate basic laboratory discoveries with clinical insight, encouraging interdisciplinary communication between cell biologists, clinicians, and translational researchers. Through rigorous peer review and open-access publication, the journal promotes reproducible, high-impact science that informs disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies worldwide.
